This year, Fashion Director, Tommy Fazio returned to Paris and Milan Fashion Week to deliver the top three trends that will define Spring 2023 Menswear.

After attending Paris and Milan Fashion Week this year, our in-house Fashion Director flies back home to deliver the top three trends to come out of Spring 2023 Menswear. Check out these trends defining where menswear is today.

Trend #1 The Return of Denim to the Luxury World

Though fondly known as the “Canadian tuxedo”, an all-denim look is an American classic that’s made its return to the luxury world for menswear in Spring 2023.

Greg Lauren gave us a new and exciting interpretation of denim, playing with proportions, ease, and color while Officine GĂ©nĂ©rale took this trend into a more tailored and sophisticated look, replacing the sport coat with denim outerwear.

Rhude’s look is heavily influenced by the 80s with a light-washed denim ensemble while Fendi shows us the modern way of wearing the Canadian tuxedo with loose proportions and frayed hemlines.

Trend #2 Pattern and Texture

Blog_TrendReport_ParisMilanFW2023_Body-02A true sign of spring is the appearance of more patterns and textures in clothing.

Paul Smith sets spring 2023 in motion with a playful mixture of suede textures, soft tones, and striped prints offering a refreshing look. Dsquared2, known for its edge, pushed the limits with a combination of color, texture, and pattern to create its signature bold looks.

Etro elegantly combined texture, print, and color to create soothing, breezy ensembles while Comme des Garçons mixes different plaid patterns to create modern, eclectic suits.

Trend #3 The Spring Trench

The trench coat has replaced the sport coat as the sophisticated spring essential.

Unlike the sport coat, the trench draws your eye to the whole body, creating the perfect finishing piece to any spring outfit.

Prada pairs a navy trench that accents the full ensemble, like its racing black leather short-shorts. AMI combines all trends perfectly and pulls it together with an elongated sport coat turned trench.

Zegna offers a spring/summery feel with light, easy fabrics and equally as light colors while Aspesi offers the quintessential trench coat built to last in menswear through all cycles of trends.

Tommy’s Top Picks for Milan / Paris

Greg Lauren, Hermès, Dior Men, and Cucinelli were standouts on the Milan and Paris runways, perfectly embodying the essence of the spring season in men’s fashion.

Greg Lauren provided elegant layering of pieces of varying proportions creating a soft and easy look. Hermès brought luxury into the modern world with a little bit of tailoring combined with neutral palettes and athletic footwear, a combo incredibly spot-on for current men’s fashion and our new affinity for athleisure.

As with Dior Men's modern and masculine collection this season, their spring trench coat merged tailored couture with contemporary outdoor elements represented by athletic footwear and shorts.

Last, but certainly not least, Cucinelli takes the prize for the best denim suit to create a classic, easy, and masculine silhouette.
